STEM CELL RESEARCH AND HUMAN CLONING
Governor Romney would reinstate the Bush-era policy banning further federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research. The dual goals of scientific research and respect for human life are not in conflict. Adult stem cell research is a promising field that should be actively pursued. The desire to make great scientific discoveries does not mean we quickly discard our moral duty to protect human life in its most vulnerable form. Governor Romney also unequivocally opposes the creation of embryos for research. Here’s what he’s said: “I do not favor, if you will, what is known as embryo farming, taking donor sperm, donor eggs, putting them together in the laboratory, and creating new embryos.” (CNN’s “The Situation Room,” 10/17/06). The country is facing enormous economic challenges, and we need a proven leader in the White House. Governor Romney’s resume and record are unmatched. He has the business, government and turnaround experience that America needs today.
As a business owner myself, I appreciate his executive background. There will be no need for him to surround himself with economic advisors and czars because he knows intimately what small businesses need to grow and be successful.
Gov. Romney has introduced a bold tax reform plan based a conservative principles that will make America competitive again. He also knows that we need balance on both sides of the ledger, the revenues and spending. (read more...)

There has been a lot of talk this year in Congress about how to save money to ensure that our children and grandchildren see the same opportunities we’ve been afforded.
As the Obama administration requested and was denied a stand-alone $2-trillion increase in the nation’s credit card limit, we must first look to the causes of so much of our federal spending and how we can reform them. Unfortunately, while they want more money to burn, the president and Senate Democrats have failed to put forward any real plan for how to address the underlying drivers of spending. (read more...)

Zeeland, Mich. – U.S. Representative-candidate Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland) issued the following statement after the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth announced that the unemployment rate in Michigan remains at 13.1 percent:
“Governments at all levels need to reduce the burden placed on job creators. We should be talking about tax relief right now and not about tax increases that will harm small businesses and working families. Tax increases and government mandates only create further uncertainty and fewer jobs.”
Huizenga is the Republican candidate for the Second Congressional District of Michigan and has been endorsed by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business.
