Bonuses, Wage Increases At SpartanNash Because of Tax Reform

On Thursday, SpartanNash announced it was raising wages and handing out bonuses because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This will positively impact thousands of families across Michigan, especially right here in West Michigan.
According to MiBiz, SpartanNash will also provide additional training for employees. “President and CEO David Staples said the company will offer associates a one-time bonus and increase wages for retail and distribution workers to be competitive with other companies in the market, as well as offer them increased training.”
The Grand Rapids Business Journal reports “the bonus amounts will vary depending on the employee’s position and market, as will the wage increases” and according to a SpartanNash spokeswoman, employees “in entry-level roles or just beyond will benefit the most.”
Despite some misguided politicians calling these wage increases and bonuses “crumbs,” the reality is the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is delivering real results for hardworking West Michigan taxpayers while demonstrating how out of touch Democrats in Washington have become.
Under Republican leadership, wages increased more last year than any time during President Obama’s Administration. Tax reform will continue to promote wage growth and the creation of good-paying jobs.
This announcement by SpartanNash is the latest example of a West Michigan employer issuing bonuses, raising wages, or increasing benefits for its employees.
